This is our 3rd year making a gingerbread house for Christmas at the Galt House. Last year we won the grand prize, but this year we at least got some smaller awards including Most Whimsical and Snow Fairy’s Favorite
Here is the story that goes with it...
'Night Before Christmas'
Twas the night before Christmas, and all around the house, the snow shined bright for the family of Mr. Mouse.
In this quaint mouse house made of a teapot, in the windows you’ll find the children
drinking tea by the fireside with smoke coming out of the tea spout chimney. In the other window the Christmas tree glows, and up in the tower candles burn bright. Mr. & Mrs.Mouse are outside caroling and can hear the train whistle in the distance. If you look closely in the night sky, you can see Santa flying by!
This entire Christmas scene was constructed with edible items including a sugar painted sky, banana chip roof, coffee bean walkway, green tea trees and even a Jolly Rancher train. We created the 3D layered landscape using gingerbread and sugar/icing.
